The Actor
is perhaps one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood. He has left his "bad boy" image behind and is now doing a spectacular job in many different roles. He became famous when he took on the role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003),Dead Man's Chest (2005) and At World's End (2007).
Incredibly popular now, Johnny Depp's early life as a rebel took a down turn when he bought and operated the Viper Room in Hollywood, where tragically River Phoenix died from an overdose outside the club.
Early Life
Early on he married Lori Anne Allison who happened to be a friend of actor Nicolas Cage, who advised him to turn to acting. His first on screen performance was in the low-budget horror classic, Nightmare On Elm Street, (1984), where he played a teenager who gets swallowed up by a bed. Three years later, Depp stared in the hit TV series "21 Jump Street" (1987) (1987-90). By 1990, he starred in the Tim Burton movie Edward Scissorhands (1990), where he played a scared-faced, sad hero who has scissors for hands.
Movies
Johnny Depp has always been selective of his choice of roles in movies. He often opted for dark, unusual characters on-screen. He played an undercover FBI agent in Donnie Brasco (1997). Hunter Thompson in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998); and in two more Tim Burton ventures, Ed Wood (1994) and Sleepy Hollow (1999), with Christina Ricci and Casper Van Dien. He also filmed a fifth Tim Burton film, Corpse Bride (2005) and has wrapped the movie; Sweeney Todd (2007) with Tim Burton as director this past summer.
We’ve waited a long time and it seems like it has taken forever for it to come to the big screen but soon at a theater near you will be Public E!
While JD has delved into other roles ( He is currently filming in Puerto Rico), his memory of Public E has been replaced by his current movie, The Rum Diary.
We will all be going mad about Public E and the press will be all over him about really, a role that is past and done with. Too bad this long wait has to be in the movie business because it would be nice to see him excited about being in the role right at the same time we are asking him about it.

Gossip and Maybe’s
Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood unleashed a wave of Internet speculation about the casting of Martin Scorsese's upcoming Frank Sinatra biopic by reporting that Universal wants to see Johnny Depp as Ol' Blue Eyes.
Scorsese is reported to favor his perennial leading man Leonardo DiCaprio (not exactly a surprise), who starred in Scorsese's Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, and the yet-to-be-released Shutter Island. "I hear Universal's first choice to fill the role may be Johnny Depp," writes industry insider Finke. "The studio is thrilled with his performance in this summer's forthcoming Public E. and very much wants to stay in the Johnny Depp business."
Whoever is chosen won't need to sing like "The Voice"--original Sinatra recordings will be used in the film, says Finke, "thanks to a deal with Frank Sinatra Enterprises." Sounds like one sweet deal and a fascinating, complex role. Of course the choice rests with Scorsese--he'll do it his way.
